Amanda Matthews, MS, MA
Mental Health Psychology - Doctoral Intern
Amanda Matthews, MS, MA is a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student Trainee working with clients from 5-18 years old at Catalpa’s Appleton location. She has a special interest in working with stress and anger management problems, depressive disorders, trauma, and children dealing with abuse related issues. Amanda takes a child-centered approach to care and uses techniques from several areas including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Strength-based interventions. She believes that the most successful interventions are collaborative and works together with the child and family to instill hope and build resiliency.
Amanda completed her undergraduate education at the University of Alaska Anchorage and earned her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the University of North Dakota- Grand Forks. She also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology in Milwaukee, where she is currently a third-year doctoral student working towards a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD.) with an emphasis on working with children and adolescents.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and playing with her dog, Red.
