Kim Charniak, MSW, LCSW
Mental Health Therapist
Kim Charniak, MSW, LCSW, is a mental health therapist who specializes in treating those with ADHD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, OCD, tics, Tourette's, tendencies to self-harm, mood disorders and oppositional and defiant behaviors, as well as helping with adolescent life transitions, career planning, social skills and strengthening family relationships. Kim sees clients ages six to 18 years old. She also has special interest in LGBTQ+ issues.
Kim leads Catalpa's specialty program called STARS (Specialized Treatment for Anxiety and Related Symptoms). She enjoys helping clients acknowledge their thoughts, feelings and behavior, and helping them make the choices they want to make rather than having their anxiety call the shots.
Kim's treatment philosophy focuses on keeping the client at the center of everything while utilizing solution-driven family therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. She is passionate about helping children identify their feelings and teaching them to work on expressing themselves in a healthy manner.
Kim earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Outside of work, Kim enjoys camping, boating, equestrian events, training her (sometimes sassy) dog, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
