Lois Johnson, MS ATR, LPC
Mental Health Therapist
Lois Johnson, MS ATR, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist who works with children, teens, and their families, individually and in groups, at Catalpa’s Waupaca Clinic. Her first priority is to understand her client – their culture, specific skills and knowledge, and needs, through conversation, art, or other expressive outlets. She then employs Solution Focused Techniques and Motivational Interviewing in a Relational Cultural framework to provide the support needed to help them meet their goals. Lois specializes in child/parent relationships, life transitions, loss, grief, and bereavement, and other mental health concerns.
Lois received her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy, with an emphasis in Counseling, from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, and her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts: Sculpture from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Prior to her academic training, she became a Journeyman Electrician through a state indentured apprenticeship program in central Wisconsin. Lois empowers clients to explore and expand life and career skills to prepare them to become adults.
When not at work, she is often with friends on or in the local lakes, preparing food, growing plants for the home and garden, and being creative.
