Mental Health Therapist Post-graduate Trainee
Nicki (Phillips) Damrow, MSE, LPC-IT, is a mental health therapist post-graduate trainee at Catalpa in Appleton. She works with children and teens ages 5-18. She has experience working with people living with issues related to anxiety, self-esteem and body image, stress management, life transitions, emotion regulation, depression, parental divorce and separation, and traumatic experiences.
Nicki’s professional practice is guided by client-centered therapy, while utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, positive psychology, and existential theory. She enjoys incorporating relaxation and mindfulness, play, and artistic expression to help her clients approach situations from various angles. She works alongside her clients and families to build a treatment approach that works for them, because she believes that people are experts on their own lives and experiences.
Nicki is passionate about providing a safe space for people to feel heard and understood at a deeper level. She enjoys working with children and teens because positive relationships and support can be critical during these periods of their development. She has experienced the powerful ripple effect that happens when people are given the opportunity and tools to develop a positive, healthy relationship in counseling.
In sessions with Nicki, clients can expect to feel respected and cared for unconditionally. Clients can count on her to both support and challenge them throughout the therapeutic relationship. Her favorite part of this work is helping people view and understand what is going on in their lives from another perspective. She believes that everyone can be a more authentic, healthy version of themselves if they are willing to do the work.
Nicki earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UW-Green Bay and her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from UW-Oshkosh. She is also a nationally certified counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, crafting, traveling, and spending time with her friends, family, and her dog, Freya.
