Mental Health Therapist
Nicki Sehmer, MSE, LPC-IT, NCC is a resident therapist at Catalpa’s Day Treatment Center. She works with middle-school and high school-aged clients struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, LGBTQ+, low self-esteem, and similar issues. Nicki is passionate about working with youth as they navigate through life’s challenges.
Nicki earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Human Development from UW-Green Bay and her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from UW-Oshkosh. She holds a Licensed Professional Counselor-in-Training License through the state of Wisconsin. Nicki uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as primary therapeutic modalities. Nicki believes a genuine, empowering relationship between counselor and client is the most effective change agent in the therapeutic process.
Nicki was drawn to the field of counseling because she believes everyone deserves help as they move through life. She sees each individual as having their own unique perspective and feels that their voice is always worthy of being heard.
In her free time, Nicki enjoys spending time with family, friends, and pet bird named Korky. She loves reading, going for walks, live music, and watching TV/movies.
