Mental Health Therapist
Valerie Schmude, MS, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Art Therapist who works with children, teens, and their families at Catalpa’s Waupaca Clinic. Valerie utilizes cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness and relaxation strategies, and art therapy to help clients with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, social skills, and LGBTQ issues. Valerie is also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help individuals with trauma.
Valerie received her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy, with an emphasis in Counseling, from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee. Valerie is especially motivated to work with children to instill hope and confidence in them for their future and help resolve any of their past conflicts.
When not at work, Valerie spends most of her time with her family. She enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, gardening, and camping during the summer months.
When joining your therapist’s waiting room, please use your (PREFERRED FIRST NAME, LAST NAME) in the cue. Please be sure you and your parent/guardian are in a CONFIDENTIAL and SEDENTARY SPACE (not in a moving vehicle) prior to joining your therapist’s waiting room. Patients and parents/caregivers MUST be in Wisconsin for the appointment.
