Nim Herard

Nim Herard, LPC-IT, NCC, is a Post-Graduate Therapist Trainee who works with clients ages 12-18 at Catalpa’s Appleton location. He has a specific passion for trauma care, and high-risk teenagers that struggle with anxiety and depression, with a particular interest in brain spotting, trauma work, and psychoanalytic theory.

Nim holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He is a nationally certified counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors and is licensed through the state of Wisconsin as an in training Licensed Professional Counselor.

Nim’s treatment philosophy is to keep clients moving forward. He knows that they may not always reach their desired goal right away, but if they incorporate the lessons they’ve learned and do the ground work together, like a flower, they will continue to grow, thrive, and blossom.

Nim is incredibly passionate about his work. As a 1st generation American, he didn’t have a lot of family nearby and accessible while he was growing up. His goal is to be the adult who has the time for his clients, the one who will create the space and support for them that he never had so they can become better versions of themselves. He wants them to be able to see a future where they can grow and thrive in their mental health journey with him. Seeing the shift from a negative to a positive outlook on the world around them is truly life changing.

Outside of work, Nim is a huge car enthusiast! He also volunteers at a foster home, loves to travel, is passionate about fitness, and loves writing poetry as a creative outlet and coping mechanism.
