Seedlings

Catalpa Health, in collaboration with the Community Early Learning Center (CELC), began providing Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) services to educators to better support young children and families in the Appleton area in 2019. During the first three years, we developed a consultative model that was implemented within two programs at the CELC, Bridges and Event Start Family Literacy.

Consultative practices in this program are focused on training educators and caregivers to care for behavioral and emotional challenges that occur in their classrooms while also caring for the mental wellness of those providing care. Our reflective practice increases capacity and prevents burnout by providing space for professionals to talk about the stressors and challenges they face daily.

Please note: this program requires a referral form that staff should only use to refer students enrolled in groups that participate in the consultation programs at the Community Early Learning Center (including Bridges and Even Start) and UW Oshkosh Head Start.
