Dr. Stephanie Shirey, DNP, PMHNP-BC, APNP, is a board-certified mental health nurse practitioner and a member of Catalpa Health’s psychiatric team. She maintains a comprehensive and holistic focus on care, including prescribing mental health medications, if indicated, for children and adolescents ages 6-18.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Columbia College of Nursing and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She began her nursing career in 2014 and has worked in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. She has also coordinated pilot programs to integrate mental health care into primary care, which has helped break down barriers and destigmatize mental health.
As a nurse practitioner, Stephanie believes every individual is unique and she works with clients and families to assess factors that contribute to the mental health processes and identifies the strengths and needs of each child and their family. She believes treatment is a partnership and collaborative effort between the child, family, and provider to obtain individualized care. She is excited about the growing incorporation of telemental health services to patients and families to improve access to care.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys being active outdoors and spending time with her three children, two dogs, and two cats.
